Rated outstanding by Ofsted, Walsall College is inviting prospective students to find out about its range of vocational courses, and have-a-go at various activities at its Open Day on Saturday 27th June, from 10am – 2pm.

The open day will also be a chance for students to find out about the new sports and catering facilities available in the college’s Business and Sports Hub, opening in September to the general public. Visitors will be able to have a go at football, basketball, rowing and table tennis challenges as well as witness flambé and cooking demonstrations, to gain an insight into the skills they could learn on vocational Sport and Hospitality courses.

Students will also be able to speak to tutors and find out why current students love studying at the college.  The Open Day will cover all areas of the college and will be held at the Wisemore and Green Lane campuses.

There are a range of qualifications to suit every need, including full-time, part-time, professional, higher education, apprenticeships and traineeships. A new initiative launched in September in conjunction with Birmingham City University (BCU) means students can now study for an Honours Degree level course without getting into debt at university.

Courses are available in a variety of exciting areas, including, Care, Hospitality, Tourism and Leisure, Business & Management, Engineering, Construction, Creative Arts, ICT & Science and Hair & Beauty. In addition, the college’s award-winning student services team will be available to offer advice and guidance.

Jatinder Sharma OBE, Walsall College’s Principal and Chief Executive, said: “Walsall College continues to put our students on the right pathway for success through our exceptional facilities and outstanding vocational training which ensure they are work ready and equipped with the skills they need in their chosen industry.

“The Open Day is an excellent opportunity to welcome members of the community to have a look around our state-of-the-art facilities and talk to our outstanding tutors about courses. All enquiries are welcome, from school leavers to people looking to change their career direction.

“With the opportunity to now study right up to degree level and our investment in the new brand new Business and Sports Hub, there has never been a better time to enrol at Walsall College.”
