We have all heard the saying ‘home is where the heart is’ - this week, My Community is calling on residents to share why they love where they live by asking them to submit a short video clip and enter a national competition with a first prize worth £700. The ‘love where you live’ film competition encourages applicants to send a short three minute film showing what they love about their neighbourhood and what they have done to make it a better place for local residents.
MyCommunity.org.uk and the My Community Network help to make neighbourhoods a better place to live through community rights outlined in the Localism Act – including shaping local development through neighbourhood planning or taking over important community assets using the right to bid - giving communities the tools to take action. My Community is funded by Department for Communities and Local Government and delivered by national charity Locality, the national network of ambitious and enterprising community-led organisations.
Locality Chief Executive and competition judge Tony Armstrong said: “This is an exciting and creative way for everyone to see the wonderful stories and people that exist in the neighbourhoods across England. So often where we live is overlooked, but this is a fabulous opportunity to celebrate our neighbourhoods.”
The closing date for applications is 21 October 2015. Entrants are asked to upload their videos to YouTube or Vimeo and send the URL to This email address is being protected from spambots.
